Overview

Advantage Reline successfully completed one of the most challenging high-pressure pipeline rehabilitations in the company's history. This required rehabilitating 1,920 feet of critical water infrastructure in a residential canyon area, where extreme elevation changes and winter weather conditions created extraordinary logistical challenges.

Challenges

Located in the steep terrain of a canyon, the pipeline's dramatic elevation changes made traditional removal and replacement impossible. The project had to be completed within a strict two-week shutdown window to minimize service disruption to residents. Adding to the complexity, the crew faced daily snowfall of 4 inches throughout the project duration, creating hazardous working conditions in an already difficult mountainous environment. The high-pressure rating requirements meant that only Primus Line® technology could provide the necessary pressure rating for this critical application.

Solution

Advantage Reline deployed Primus Line® 12 technology, specifically engineered for high-pressure applications. The team strategically placed 10 access pits to navigate the challenging topography and accommodate 12 bends throughout the pipeline route. Working in extreme winter conditions with continuous snowfall, the crew demonstrated exceptional skill and determination to complete this technically demanding installation. The trenchless approach was the only viable solution given the terrain constraints and environmental sensitivity of the canyon location.

Despite the harsh winter conditions and complex terrain, the project was completed successfully within the two-week shutdown window. The high-pressure rated Primus Line® system restored full operational capacity to this critical water transmission line, ensuring reliable service to the residential canyon community. This project represents Advantage Reline's second high-pressure installation, demonstrating the company's capability to tackle the most challenging pipeline rehabilitation projects where traditional methods simply aren't feasible.
