Client Objective

Install high-pressure water main sliplining in an urban infrastructure corridor.

Overview

Advantage Reline successfully rehabilitated a crucial water supply pipeline, addressing years of persistent failures while preserving the area's mature tree canopy and sensitive ecosystem. The project demonstrated how trenchless technology can solve complex infrastructure challenges without harming the environmental integrity in established residential neighborhoods.

Challenges

The aging pipeline had experienced multiple failures over the years, creating ongoing service reliability issues for residents. The pipeline ran through a well-established residential area dominated by large, mature trees whose extensive root systems had contributed to the pipeline deterioration. Traditional excavation and replacement would have required removing these valuable trees, causing irreversible environmental damage to this sensitive area. The presence of local wildlife, including a family of deer, further emphasized the need for minimal environmental disruption.

Solution

Advantage Reline deployed Primus Line® 20 technology to provide a comprehensive rehabilitation solution that eliminated environmental concerns. Using just two strategically placed access pits, the team successfully navigated four bends in the 1,260-foot pipeline while preserving every tree and maintaining the natural habitat. The trenchless approach allowed the mature root systems to remain undisturbed while providing a permanent solution to the pipeline's chronic failure issues.

The rehabilitation eliminated all leak points and restored full system reliability, solving the persistent problem that had plagued the area for years. Most importantly, the project preserved the neighborhood's mature tree canopy and protected the sensitive ecosystem, including the local deer population. The successful completion demonstrates how advanced trenchless technology can address critical infrastructure needs while maintaining environmental stewardship in residential communities.

“It was a pleasure working with you again after the Seattle job. Mercer Island was even more impressed with the work you performed.”
